Another JLA story on the way...

This hot little number (see what I did there?) is JLA's new take on gargoyles and demons. I mean who would have thought that we would be reading about gargoyles? Not me. The covers below are in true JLA style, complete with the hot boys and tattoos, (Who doesn't love a good tattoo?), and of course the cute girls. Below are the covers and the blurb/synopsis' of the novella, Bitter Sweet Love, and the novel, White Hot Kiss.

In a sizzling prequel novella to her new series THE DARK ELEMENTS, #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout draws readers into the extraordinary, irresistible world of Wardens and demons.

Dez wasn't just Jasmine's crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining balance between good and evil. He was her everything...right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn't help that Jas's father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally.

And now he's back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn't taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again...

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

About the Author

Lea Nolan couldn’t read until the third grade. After a lot of hard work she finally got the hang of it and quickly learned the best way to get out of doing chores was to tell her parents she was reading. Soon she was hooked, devouring books by Roald Dahl, E.B. White, Judy Blume, C.S. Lewis, and anything with a shiny Newberry Award sticker on the cover. Books provided a portal to enchanted lands where anything was possible and characters relied on their wits to wiggle out of sticky situations. Today, even though she’s all grown up, Lea writes the kinds of stories she sought as a teen--smart paranormals with bright heroines, crazy-hot heroes, diabolical plot twists, plus a dose of magic, a draft of romance, and a sprinkle of history. She holds degrees in history and women’s studies concentrating in public policy and spent fifteen years as a health policy analyst and researcher. She lives in Maryland with her heroically supportive husband and three clever children, who’ve figured out how to get out of doing their chores.

Divergent #3: Allegiant Sneak Peek!

I have to say that I have that it is such a short insight into the book, but I would rather have this than nothing at all. I'm sure you all agree. (Laughs evilly). To be honest I was just as mad you all probably are right now, but I hope you enjoy this rare occasion wholeheartedly.

Origin Lux #4

Image
Now while the over may have thrown some of you off (me included), the writing and all that we love about the brilliant Jennifer L. Armentrout, was evident throughout the book.
I think I have to address the cover first. JLA said that the cover 'NEEDED' to be different and I, and I'm sure a whole lot of you, was like 'I don't care. I want it to match the others. Now it looks out-of-place on my shelf.' Having read the incredible book, I have to agree with what JLA said. it did need to be different. This book is not like the others because it is so different, it - I feel - was the pivotal moment in all of their lives. The cover is almost symbolic of the drastic change which comes in the book, and will come in the last one.

Daemon was his all arrogant, swoonworthy self in this book, but because the book is in dual POV's we get a better understanding as to his thoughts and ways of processing the crap (please insert whatever word you think you should. I won't be offended I promise) he has to deal with on an almost daily occasion. He truly excelled in my eyes, just because of the lengths he went to, to save the one he truly love. There is a moment in the book about 3/4 of the way in (I know I'm being evil, but i don't want to ruin the surprise) where I just fell in love with him all over again, serious swoonworthy material. I'll give you a little snippet, but be warned, if you read the book, your heart may just explode from all the swooning.
There’re one hundred and sixty-eight hours in a week. Around eighty-seven hundred and then some hours in a year, and you know what?”
She smiled. “What?”
“I want to spend every second, every minute, every hour with you.” Part of me couldn’t believe something that cheesy had come out of my mouth, but it was also so beautifully true. “I want a year’s worth of seconds and minutes with you. I want a decade’s worth of hours, so many that I can’t add them up.”
Katy want through some serious crap (again replace the word as you feel is necessary) in this book but I feel like she grew into her skin. She showed some of the most admirable characteristic we all expect from ourselves and those around us, bravery, selflessness, intelligence, sensitivity and most of all she loved Daemon unconditionally. I just had to throw that in there because I LOVE HIM, and I love him even more in this book. Here is a quote from Katy...
Giving in and letting them do what they wanted hadn’t seemed like an option in the beginning. At first the pain was worth it, because I’d be damned if I was going to make this easy for them.
We meet some new characters in this book and some returning ones. One new characters in particular, Archer. I don't want to give out any spoilers, but I will say, just hold tight on your judgement of him. He may just surprise you.
I give this 4/5 stars. I just feel like it was left a lot of unanswered question, which I hope I will be getting the answers to in the next one. Be warned, the ending, like the last one may just give you an aneurysm. Just sayin'.

Oh and you may feel like punching someone, so stay away from people or sit next to someone you hate. (just kidding, or maybe not...)

Go out and buy this. I promise it will not disappoint.
